Deck the Halls

Are you thinking about your Christmas quilting projects yet? It’s time to start getting those décor and gift ideas planned out! This holiday season, we’re going to Deck the Halls—our primary theme for the McCall’s Quilting Winter issue is all about the ultimate seasonal decorating ideas, along with holiday and winter-themed quilts to snuggle under in your favorite chair! Let’s warm up our living spaces with colorful, comforting, and celebratory décor pieces that exude the energy of the season! Please send in your quilted project ideas for festive and seasonal table runners, placemat sets, pillow covers, wall and door hangings, go-to quilted gift items, pouches of all sizes and shapes, and of course, cozy throw and lap quilts!

With all the various major holidays that fall in the depth of winter, our secondary, supporting theme is Seasonal Celebrations—what would you love to make, gift, and display to commemorate this special season? Besides Christmas and the accompanying quilted stockings, Christmas tree skirts, and soft ornaments, we’d love to see your ideas for celebrating Hannukah, Solstice, Kwanzaa, New Year, and the majesty of winter itself.

Submission Guidelines

We are so excited to share this news with you and we hope that you will submit a design. Please send a diagram, drawing, or photo of your unpublished idea to [email protected] by April 15, 2024, along with the completed Submissions Form (available here). Once accepted, we will work with you directly to choose fabrics that you love and get you in touch with the fabric manufacturers to supply fabrics. The finished quilts are due
June 18, 2024. This issue will be on sale in October 2024.
