Meander No More: Learn to Free Motion Quilt with Confidence
SUMMARY
Many quilters, confident in their ability to learn the complex skills of rotary cutting, applique and precision piecing, lose their confidence as soon as the quilt top is complete. The beautiful top hangs in the sewing room until a Long Arm Quilter is found to complete the quilt; or, the fabric masterpiece gets folded neatly into a box to make room for the next project.
Many of these quilters make timid attempts to learn free motion quilting. They are told to “just stipple or meander” which are NOT the easiest quilt motifs for beginners. Unsure how to progress, and discouraged by their initial efforts, these quilters give up.
By learning the (five minute) machine set up: Ten Steps to Free Motion Quilting and choosing the right supplies, projects and motifs for your skill level, you CAN learn to free motion quilt.
In this webinar, Lori Kennedy will inspire you with dozens of colorful quilts as she walks you through the Four Skills of Free Motion Quilting. She will offer fun doodle and stitching exercises for every skill level; and she will help you choose the right supplies and tools so YOU can learn to free motion quilt with confidence and finish your own quilts!
In this web seminar you will learn:
- How to set up ANY sewing machine for free motion quilting.
- How to choose supplies: thread, batting and fabric.
- The importance of doodling and keeping a sketchbook.
- How to choose the right project and motif for your skill level.
- Several beautiful step-by-step quilt motifs you can use in your next quilt.
- Tips to keep your FMQ organized so you can make the most of your quilting time.
- The importance of creating and documenting samples.
