Episode 201 | International Quilt Market 2010 Episode
What’s Up? — Jodie launches the first episode of the second season from the Northcott Fabrics booth at International Quilt Market in Minneapolis. Both the Photoshop diet and the in-the-flesh versions of Mark join her to open the show. Mark shows off his latest creation, his Chester Gardens fabric line. Mark turns a seriously amazing iron into steamy silliness as he and Art Garabedian introduce you to the latest introduction in Reliable Corporation’s lineup, the steamy velocity V50 iron. Author Rose Hughes And Her Woolies — That Patchwork Place author Rose Hughes ( “Dream Landscapes” and “Exploring Embellishments”) shows Jodie how to use batting and wool to make her versatile and very cute “Woolies” which she uses to embellish her quilts and even turns them into jewelry. See how easy these little felted gems are to make!
Episode 202 | Learn About Quilting with Icelandic Fabric Patterns
Learn about quilting with Icelandic fabric patterns with designer Gudrun Erla. She has quilted since the age of 23 and never stopped. Now she designs and sells patterns, books, and fabric patterns that have an Icelandic influence. Gudrun also shares a holiday project from her book, “Fast and Furious”. With this table runner project she shows tips to speed things up using fusible fleece and basting glue.
Episode 203 | Modern Quilting & Fabrics
This interesting episode is dedicated to modern quilting & fabrics. They talk about the Modern Quilt Guild which started on the internet and now is well known throughout the country. At the guild, 2 members discuss what makes a quilt modern. Then Mark meets up with designer Michele Scott to discuss her amazing quilts and they discuss a Martini Glass applique that she is designing. At her residence, she shares tips for using thick sewing threads when quilting. Near the end of the show, Jodie & Mark review great books that are self-published.
Episode 204 | Quilting in New York with Mixed Media Art
In this episode, Mark & Jodie explore quilting in New York. They start out in Brooklyn talking about converging crafts, sewing, & quilting into one unique art form. They do this by meeting up with Tamara Lee which she shows how to make a lamp shade out of scraps fabric pieces. Then they visit a unique mixed media artist in Manhattan where they explore painting on fabrics and other interesting ways to quilt. Near the end, quilter Alison Ruggiero shows how to free motion quilt with monofilament thread.
Episode 205 | Quilting Guilds & Organization Episode
Mark and Jodie feature many different quilting guilds and organizations that you can join in this episode. They start off this episode by visiting an exhibit by the Courthouse Quilters Guild which promotes breast cancer awareness. Then they talk with Meg Cox, who is the president of the Alliance for American Quilts. She discusses what the organization is and how it helps raises money by selling quilts on Ebay.
Episode 206 | Christmas Quilting Episode
This episode of Quilt Out Loud focuses everything on Christmas quilting and gift ideas. Jodie and Mark take a trip to the Pennington Quilt Works in New Jersey for the open house. There they discuss all types of great gifts for quilters such as the Go fabric cutter. Later on, Jodie meets up with Pam Mahshie to talk about creating decorative stitches with the circular sewing attachment. In the last segment of the video, they review quilting books that are very helpful.

In this full episode, the Quilt Out Loud team films most of the 2010 quilt market convention. Jodie Davis teams up with Rob Appell to walk around the various booths at the International Quilt Market. They first talk with Alex Veronelli of the sewing thread brand, Aurifil. Then Mark Lipinski meets with editors of quilting magazines. In the last section of this episode, they meet with expert longarm quilter, Linda Taylor. She shows us how she quilts with the long arm machine with traditional and non-traditional designs.

The show opens with Jodie and Mark at the Le Petit Café in Caroll Gardens, Brooklyn, once a poker playing social club and now a charming eatery. This month’s jam-packed show includes Mark’s door knock at artist turned quilter Melanie Testa’s Brooklyn home and a hands on session where Melanie teaches Jodie to mono print a mule. Jodie interviews artist Luke Haynes at International Quilt Market in Houston. Luke’s quilts bridge the gap between quilting and fine art. The book review session features books with a 30’s theme.
