After guiding viewers through the key ingredients–the selection of a photograph and the fabric and thread choices–Faith demonstrates the steps for creating a vellum tracing and making an applique “road map.” She discusses how to study a pet photograph to determine what elements are the most prominent, and then demonstrates how to create those elements with thread and fabric. After establishing the body o the pet, Faith shows how to add the eyes, nose, and fur. Finally, she shows how to complete the piece by creating a background that tells the pet’s story. Sample background elements that are discussed include the addition of sticks, creating buildings, and adding beads.
