Aviary Block of the Month | Nancy Mahoney | Runtime (10 min)

Nancy demonstrates using two rulers to cut the needed width of a block’s background piece. She then shows how to assemble the fusing guide for a block and talks about why she always makes two fusing guides for each block. Next, Nancy uses scissors to snip the joint spots of each applique piece from the fabric. Parchment paper is a helpful tool for this project, and Nancy shows how to prepare an applique flower on parchment paper that is pinned to a fusing guide before moving the complete shape to the block.
