Set Sail
“This pillow was inspired by my family’s summer vacations in Maine and the sailboats on the Casco Bay,” Jen Daly said of her super sleek, stylish pillow sham pattern. “With this design I was trying to capture the graphic nature of the horizon line between the sky and water and the simple shapes of the sailboats.”
The sailboats are made with foundations, and the rest of the pillow is put together with simple piecing, making this an ideal summer sewing project—simple, fast and fun. It would take just about a day to complete the whole thing! You’ll end up with an appealing, classic home décor piece that you can enjoy for years to come.
This project is great for beginners or anyone who wants a feeling of completing something beautiful without too much fuss. If you’ve always wanted to try foundation piecing, this is a great introduction to the technique! Though it looks clean and modern with the solid fabrics, you could easily introduce prints to personalize this pattern.
