Welcome summer with the new batch of July/August issues from the Quilting Company. With the July/August 2019 issue of Love of Quilting, we celebrate our 20th anniversary, and kick off the year of celebration with newly re-made Sew Easy™ lessons. The hot days of summer mean patriotic quilts, small projects, and fun creative challenges. These issues are here to tell you the best summer getaway is your own sewing studio!

Love of Quilting

Farmhouse Traditions by Charisma Horton is a technique-rich wall quilt with fresh country style.

Parade of Roses by Lori Marvel is a stunning quilt. In addition to the simple-yet-striking quilt blocks, this quilt underscores exactly why a mitered border is worthwhile.

Grandma’s House by Reed Johnson features fun, traditional piecing that yields abundant secondary designs.

McCall’s Quilting

Gearing Up by Elijah Baker is a striking piece of art that combines metalwork and curved piecing. Learn more about the unusual inspiration behind Gearing Up in the feature article.

Flabbergast by Claudia Pfeil is a puzzling quilt that baffles the eye, and yet requires only simple piecing.

Broken Diamonds by Joanie Holton and Melanie Greseth of TailorMade by Design is the cover quilt. The large quilt blocks and addicting techniques will have you stitching this string-pieced beauty in no time!

Quiltmaker

Rockets Red Glare by Karen Ackva is the cover quilt for this issue. The stars twinkle in patriotic red, white, and blue.

Glow Tiles by Sylvia Schaefer is a dynamic quilt. Choose an array of solids to create the ombre effect.

Soaring Heights by Mary Hertel is one of our favorite patriotic quilts this season. An eagle soars over waving, dimensional stripes in this design.

Pre-Cut Patchwork

Fine Feathered Friends by Karen Bialik features a flock of scrappy songbirds made from fat quarter pre-cuts.

Stairs to the Stars by Bev Getschel is this issue’s cover quilt. Made from 2-1/2” strips, the bright pinwheel stars spin in the black-and-white setting.

Checking the Boxes by Karen Overton is made from 10” squares. In this 4-Patch extravaganza, batiks meet black-and-white prints.

McCall’s Quick Quilts

Popsicles by Connie Kauffman is playful, small quilt that’s bringing back prairie points!

Scrap Vortex by Abigail Dolinger is a scrap buster quilt featuring easy gechniques and a whole lot of ‘wow’!

Waves of Grain by Shari Lauren is a modern-style quilt. Play with solid fabrics in this triangle bonanza.
